About the Self healing concrete:
Concrete that has self-healing properties is called self-healing concrete. Self-healing concrete also called as bacterial concrete. Specially selected types of the bacteria genus Bacillus, along with a calcium-based nutrient known as calcium lactate (Ca(C3H5O2)2), and nitrogen and phosphorus, are added to the ingredients of the concrete when it is being mixed.
Generally, when cracks occur in concrete, water is deliberately poured into the cracks and the precursor is activated. The active precursor induces bacteria to react with the interim precursor and forms a base of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) called limestone and fills the crack.
Self-healing concrete can be used in building basements, building walls, tunnels, high-tech bridges, highways, marine structures.
